ದೋಸೆ

Masala dose

A thin, crisp rice and lentil crepe, fermented overnight and cooked on a hot griddle, folded over spiced potato.

ಇಡ್ಲಿ ವಡೆ

Idli vade

Steamed rice cakes, soft and plain on purpose, with a savoury fried lentil doughnut alongside.

ಬಿಸಿ ಬೇಳೆ ಬಾತ್

Rice bath

Hot rice cooked down with lentils and spice into one dish. The thing Bengaluru eats when it wants comfort.

ಚೌ ಚೌ ಬಾತ್

Chow chow bath

Two semolina dishes on one plate: one savoury with vegetables, one sweet with saffron and ghee.

ಕೇಸರಿ ಬಾತ್

Kesari bath

The sweet half on its own. Semolina, ghee, sugar and saffron, served warm.

ಗೋಳಿ ಬಜೆ

Goli baje

Soft, tangy fried dumplings from the coast. What you order while you wait for everything else.

Filter coffee

Brewed slowly through a steel filter and poured between two tumblers until it foams.
